I agree it's not really any of my business, but just don't try in convert me or save me because my beliefs differ. That crap gets annoying and old fast.

No - it needn't be your business.

I think religion is supposed to a path to something, and not the only path. But tell that to the practitioners ;). Besides, that path has infinite diversions that I think many who walk it may not even be headed to that original destination :).

About those believers/atheists who want others convinced about the existence/non-existence of God: Do we think their view/image/concept of God is right in the first place to "not care"? Or is it like - I don't care if there is a right answer, all I know is you guys are wrong - just don't bother me. So in that sense, is an agnostic simply opinionated, indifferent and lazy ;)?

I express a similar concept by saying that the universe doesn't really care what I think about how it works.

Some may argue that God may care about whether I believe in Him, but my belief or disbelief certainly isn't going to affect his existence.

Unless the Judaeo-Christian God is subject to the same rules as the Pagan gods - Once the number of believers drops below a certain level, they disappear.

I find it shocking that after the martyrdoms of so many scientific geniuses from Galileo to Copernicus who pursued science over dogma and ended up being ostracized as a result - intelligent folks like us are asking why would it be our business!

I'm sorry that I cannot share the humor in the comments section. I'm quite touchy about this topic.

And while you are 'minding your own business', just be grateful for the God-fearing people out there who are fighting to protect your way of life from illegal immigrants and other threats to our security.

I had read a post once somewhere. It said "Can God Surpise Himself?"... 'cause if he can, then he didnt see it coming and he is not ALL-KNOWING.... If he can't surprise himself then there are some things that he cannot do, so he is not ALL-POWERFUL.

Arunk, those are interesting questions but I don't know how to answer them. Wouldn't it depend on each individual agnostic how they viewed theists and atheists?

Hi Knot Keats! It seems to me you have a very pragmatic approach to how you view nature. Would you describe yourself as a fairly practical and/or pragmatic person?

Mahendra, you are quite right to point out the histories of religions -- of all or at least nearly all of them -- are littered with ugly reminders that humans can at times be vicious, petty, moral dwarfs who persecute each other for damn little reason. I don't see religions as so much causing that ugliness as facilitating it. Religions are great enablers. Sometimes they enable people to do good, and sometimes they enable people to do evil. At least that's how I see it.
