One Night Stands?

This morning, I've been wondering about one night stands. I personally don't much care for them since most of the pleasure I take in sex comes after I gain a nuanced understanding of my partner's feelings and responses -- not something I'm very good at accomplishing in one night. But I'm curious what others think about them?

In my 20s I had several. They were quite fun, actually, but then, I was not a shy partner and had no problem participating enthusiastically. That seemed to be a turn-on for my partner. I was never drunk (what's the point of doing it when you're in a state where you won't remember the pleasure?). I also recognize that these occurred at a time in my life when I feared involvement with men and wanted only to satisfy sexual hunger. One partner commented that I had a very "male" attitude toward sex, i.e., I wasn't looking for love. It was in my 30s that I had my last stand and later felt very sad; at that point in my life I sought intimacy and love, and concluded this was not the path to it. Not long after, I met my husband.

Hi Kathryn!

A couple friends of mine shared with you a very similar sexuality. I consider them among the sanest friends I have, although I personally don't take much from one night stands.

I don't have a problem with it morally if everybody's in agreement, though personally I never even kissed a girl on the first date. I'm just not one-night stand material, I guess.
