Santayana on the Importance of Happiness
"Happiness is the only sanction of life; where happiness fails, existence remains a mad and lamentable experiment."
A quote I would agree with! But would happiness be equated with peace? One can be happy and not at peace. But then, I cannot imagine being at peace and not being happy...
Good question, GC! Now I wonder what Santayana meant by "happiness"? Would he have thought that one can be happy but not at peace? I don't know, but I would be curious to find out.
